...and then I woke up. Damn!
I've always been a hard-headed stubborn kind of gal. Especially during my teen years when 'what i wanted was what i was got' and it really didn't matter what ANY body had to say about it. So of course when one of my classmates came with her freshly inked wrist, done by her uncle...known as Smooth (ohahaaa looking back on it now), my mind was set on it. My boyfriend at the time had tatts and I always thought they were sexy as fuck...mmmm yes! So sure nuff I went and got mine. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I was 15, young and rebellious! I went with some girlfriends and we each got what we wanted. But really, looking back on it, I still for the life of me cant remember why the hell I got 'BABAYGIRL' with the outline detail of a butterfly, and of course its in cursive and yeah, you already know where it is... on my lower back right side above my ass.
(Side Note: it actually doesn't look as bad as most underage and rushed ink sessions)
Of course, I thought I was slick and was certain my parents would NEVER find out. Ah, the naivety of our youth. Well, a week went by and it did in fact get back to my parents who then threatened to burn it off with an iron (hahaaaa), then began to research different removal options, to later decide that it was more money than they wanted to spend, and once I was older and realized my stupidity I would have to fork over my own hard earned $$$ to say goodbye to 'lil Babygirl'. Needless to say, it developed into one of those life stories that your parents will always mention at every family gathering around the dinner table, or upon meeting your boyfriend for the first time, embarrassed much, YES! Now in my mid 20's I usually forget that its even there until someone accidentally catches a glance or my man is trying to fuck with by saying how much he REALLY loooves it (he swears) and there's no way that I can ever cover it up, ha yeah right!
This leads me to the reason I began this trip down memory lane. I still love tattoos and even considered getting ol'babygirl covered up, but have decided to wait until I'm absolutely certain on what I want, and have saved up enough $$$ to afford an artist that can really ink some art on this body. There are many artists I like and
Scott Campbell, of
Saved, in Brooklyn NYC, happens to be one of them. I was geeking out on the internet a little while ago and came across these little treasures. These are from Campbell's latest show in Miami appropriately entitled,"Make it Rain". Each is a collection of 100 $1.00 bills stacked and engraved by laser. Pretty fucking ill! Check out the rest below, and other amazing Scott Campbell creations on his site ---->
